God Gives Us Many Blessings

Wow I bet you thought Look Sandi already forgot she was suppose to be creating every week. Nope, I created week 2 and even created 5 things on week 3... week 4 I had to hit my knees in a BIG way and did not get any *creatin* done and to be honest not sure if I can get any done for the next month but maybe that is why God gave me energy I have not had in a year, to create 5 in one week on week 3.

My Keelee had major emergency surgery and we have been taking care of 4 month Zoe and now Keelee and Zoe while Momma recovers. She had us pick them up from her place on the 18 cause her back was hurting so bad she could not pick up our Zoe to feed her. So Kassy jumps in the car and whips over and gets her sister and niece and brings them to the Tree House and sets them up in their weekend room (they are here most weekends).

Aunt Kassy starts taking care of Zoe and Momma starts heat pads on Keelee's back. We figure she pulled something holding the baby feeding her and the lactation nurse said that her back would hurt so we thought nothing of it. Then Saturday night she noticed the white of her eyes were yellow (no I had not noticed as my eyes are not working to well after my strokes). So thank goodness for small blessings, Her God Father is someone high up at Parkland, and he gave her a number to call and talk to a nurse who is there 24 hours and told her to come in on Sunday, (seems the country hospital is busy on Saturday nights LOL), as soon as she can, and get it checked out. Guess it was a good thing she did, cause she was taken back as soon as the nurse saw her , and then it seems all the doctors and student doctors ( this is a teaching hospital, and a good one) had to come and and take a peek at her. She had a scope to remove the stone blocking her bile duct on Tuesday and then on Wednesday they removed her gallbladder. She came home on Thursday to the Tree House and is suppose to be resting and recovering but it is hard to keep her in bed and very hard to keep her away from the baby. So hard when you can't pick up and hold your 4 month old little one.

Poor momma. We do place her next to her in bed and let her stroke n talk to her, but just not the same thing. Grandpa or Pa Paw as Zoe seem to know him has really stepped up! He works all day and even into the night with his DJ job (Music by Marty) and still he stays awake taking shifts with Zoe so Kassy can get some sleep or time out with her friends. Zoe loves riding on the shoulders of her Pa Paw and dancing with him too.

We are so blessed so have so many friends and family here in town and especially online that offered up prayer and healing blessing for Keelee and our family during this emergency. We want to thank each of you for your kind thoughts and prayers. Just so you know I have not forgotten my pledge and I am listing my creations I made Week 3. Check back to tomorrow and hopefully I will have a minute to list one of the dolls *Zoe* on eBay. She is my little Zoe's favorite one. Sadly she is tea stained and has lots of feathers and beading on her on my Zoe Bug can't play with her .like she wants too, so she will go up on eBay to buy diapers and formula for Zoe Bug while she stays at Nanna's Tree House. All the creations are Valentine inspired and come from my heart.

Yesterday was My Baby's 21st!

Yesterday was a BIG day in our Home! My Baby Turned 21!
Sassy Kassy is now an ADULT! She has always seemed like one... started her own soaping business at the age of 11 and got her hair degree at the age of 20. Been my caregiver since I've been sick and recovering.

Kassy is a wonderful Aunt, Sister, Daughter and Friend. She is an awesomely talented hair and makeup artist and I for one can't wait see what she does in 2012.

Been a great week... created 5 new creations, Zoe and Keelee have been here for 4 days and we celebrated Kassy's special day with family and friends. AND as I wrote this blog our Zoe bug just *scooted* her first *crawls* on her chubby belly (towards Nanna's Morning Glory stuffing box). All in all this has been one great week!

My Goal for 2012- Create 1 a Week- Every Week

I have a new Goal for 2012...To Create ONE new thing, each week of the year. To help keep me honest with this, I plan to post a picture of my creations on Facebook. That way I can share what I am creating and when I miss a week, as we know will happen from time to time, my crafting friends will push me to get back into the game. Week 1 and 2, I decided to place in my Shweet Potato Dolls N Patterns Shoppe in
the Country Fried Primitive Marketplace.

I would love to Challenge any of you to do the same. Create 1 item a week and showcase your creation. You can create anything, it doesn't have to be something sewn, it could be something baked or blogged. The whole idea is to be creative. Showcase at least one item on your blog, Facebook, email to a friend just let someone else know and see what you have done. This helps keep you honest and keeps your mojo flowing so to speak.

I look forward to seeing what you come up with this year. As for me, I plan to use my weekly creations to get back into my Marketplaces...Lemon Poppy Seeds & Country Fried Primitives and to increase my presence on Etsy.

Shweet Touches of the Holidays

Okay so my kids say I'm "Touched" in the head. I could take it that the girls think,that mom is a little bit daffy or crazy this time of the year or I'll just take it that they know I have the Christmas Spirit. My Christmas Spirit begins long before the holiday season begins you know because I love everything about Halloween through the Winter Season. So this creative Momma, works all year long on the holidays and I tend to mix them up a little. I think that is why my girls think that I am "Touched".

We live in a small apartment but even when we lived in a large house, I always kept out all my dolls all year long. They just dressed up for the season. My Halloween dolls got to hold wreaths and my Angels well they might be going trick-r treating. The picture above was taken tonight. It is my little prim tree that sits atop our converted "gun cabinet". Funny story , it holds our sports items that are very dear to my husband and I & when we found the gun cabinet at a yard sale we had NO thoughts we would EVER need use of it for guns or rifes. HA HA we are proud owners and registered gun owners now but ours are LOCKED UP TIGHT.

Anyways As you can see we mix all seasons in our tree as around it. So I might be "Touched" or as my daughter's fella says I am a very Touching Gal to be around.

He just says that because i asked him to help me with a "sneak attack" in the apartments we leave in. There are some really cute little girls who I know love to play tea out on the steps on the weekend, So I am making up a set of Shweet Dolls and next weekend we are going to leave them outside for them to find when they come out for their weekend tea party. Now I just need to come up with a safe toy to make for one of the girl's brother who has Down's. He lives below me and is he sweetest little angel in this world.

My new grandbaby has installed a new desire to create and my RA and Neurologist doctors and both been working overtime to lower the pain meds and also at the same time lower my pain (funny how new doctors can make that happen). First Time Nana is AmAzInG!!!

Zoe arrived on September 7, 2011 and spent 4 long days in the NICU. She came on on 9/11 making what should have been a sad day a joyful one in our home. She is growing, whiggling and giggling unlike any newborn i have even seen. She is just beautiful! Yes she is my first grandchild and i am a very proud Nana
indeed! So, If you don't see or hear from me on facebook for a while you know that this Nana is with Zoe and Keelee....doing what all Nanas do. Hanging out and rocking in the old rocking chair. This time I get to choose dirty nappies or bottles????

More updates on Zoe to come and maybe even a doll or two and a book is in the works also

It is a wonderful way to reconnet with people I lost touch with from my high school and college days back in Tennessee (I'm in Texas now and sadly have not been back to Tennessee since 1993). One of the gals I reconneted with graduated 2 years before me but we discovered we both have a love of sewing. I love to sew dolls and she sews the most amazing crib bedding and other accessories. What does Father's Day mean to you? To me it means..........

I came into the living room with the expectation of posting a wonderful picture of my darling husband, on facebook, who is not only a great dad to his girls but also their friends and boyfriends. As i flipped thru pictures on the laptop and then headed to my picturetrail i realized I need to showcase not just one but 3 amaizing men in my life.

The 1st picture is fuzzy but one i love so much since it is one taken at the last Christmas we had with my daddy. Funny how time forgives horrible hair mistakes cause there I am with my "fro". Daddy was so proud of his belt buclkle i think it was the shape of Texas, his adopted home. Jeremy was a wee little one in the picture who now is a father of 3 himself and serving the USA in the Army.

I need to honor my Father in Law who became my dad. Frank never met anyone who he did not like and did not like him. Even when Marty and I were not married, but we had Keelee, Frank welcomed me into the family as his daiughter and told me to call him Dad. July 1 we will celebrate his passing into heaven. He now watches after me and lets me know he is around my flickering the lights and moving things around. Boy I miss him so much. Funny how both my dad and marty's dad spend about the same number of yrs with me...now I am at a lost for a daddy. This pictures is one of my very favorite pictures of him with my hubby and his brother. Can't get more Texan that this.

The last picture will be of my loving and wonderful husband. He truely had a wonderful example to follow in his dad Frank. Marty is not only a good, kind and firm father for Keelee and Kassy, he has always taken their friends under his wings and guided them in the right path. If there was someone headed the wrong way, he would gently guide them back to the right path. He helped boyfriends learn to be good husbands. He allowed a boyfriend to stay with us so that he would be sure to get to school and graduate. Marty not only encourages his daughters to be good and upstanding young women and Keelee now a wife and mother. He also takes wonderful care of me as I go through life with chronic pain and illness. He did not agree to take that on when he married me but has so willingly become the caregiver for me as well as taking the role of Daddy or Father to the girls and their friends.

So today take time to thank those special men in your life and if they have passed on remember they can still hear you , watch and know what you are doing so make sure to blow a kiss and thank then for teaching you how to be a better mom, dad, sister, brother, person.

Hellooooooo my Shweet friends

Seems like it has been way to long since I have posted on my blog and i it has been. Life have taken many turns for me health wise and family wise. Last weekend I was so proud to attend the wedding of my beautiful first daughter Keelee to the love of her life Jesse.

More pictures will be posted as we get them. Momma and Kassy made the top cake for the bride and groom to cut. First time ever making a giant cupcake and using fondant. Eveyone else shared in cupcakes!
It was so much fun and have to say beautiful!

So off to work on a Hippo for my nephew's new neice so she has something to play with durning the wedding reception on July 2. This has been a great wedding season and looking for to a fantastic SEPTEMBER!

Finally I am creating babies again---Shweet Potato Dolls That is...

Well life in Shweet Potato Land has been trying but I am excited to say things are looking bright and cheery. My health is slowly getting better, although sewing like i used to is way in the future. I am very busy planing Keelee and Jesse's wedding in June and the arrival of their first child sometime in Sept. Kassy is a full fledged hair dresser/ makeup artist now and is a busy busy girl.

The past few months I have not been sitting on my hands...i have created 25 small bodies and 9 regular size dolls as well as working on 100 Shweet Special Annies for The Little Black Boxes in June.
Now dressing these nekkkkkked babies is another story. This week I finished my first doll of 2011....
She was created as a challenge in Cloth Doll Artistry and she is listed in my Country Fried Primitives shoppe and ready to be adopted.

Gotta take her outside to the flower garden below the Tree House and take pictures this weekend....Maybe her Friend Shweet Chic Bunny will be all dressed so she can go out to play too.

Thanks to everyone who has hung in here with me and I am promising you, that I will be here visiting with you more and keeping you updated on on Keelee and baby.

I am a couple days late getting this gal up on eBay but thanks to Diana with Hidden Farm Priminives and Kellie with Cheasnut Junction Patterns for the Pattern and Deb with Deb's Lost Treasures for the beautiful template. We each recieved or purchased this pattern and made it up into a Think Pink Doll. % of the adoption prize will go to our local breast cancer foundation.
My doll is made in honor of my cousin Beverly who has inspired me with her postive attitude while fighting this horrible disease, Come by and see if you need to take Beverly home with you today.

My Baby Did It! She Graduated Paul Mitchell Hair School!

I am so proud of my Sassy Kassy! Last Saturday night she graduated from Paul Mitchell Partner School.

There was never a doubt in my mind that this child would be big in hair. From the time she could walk and talk she wanted to fix my hair and do my makeup. I am not joking she was 2 yrs old and using my Lancome makeup and cleanser like an adult.

At a very young age she asked for a "hair chair" so of course Santa brought her one for Christmas

As you can see she loved her doll and chair but she wanted real hair cutting tools and let us know that too.

From the 5th grade on she has cut,colored and styled not only her own hair but her friends and classmates...even Mom and Keelee too.

After high school it was a given she would attend a hair school it just was which one. I am so proud of her for taking the knowledge that Paul Mitchell Instructors have given her and her natural talent and is planning on her future in hair!

So Miss Sassy Kassy We want to tell you how proud we are of you!

And remember Momma and Daddy always get free cuts and color!

I got up this morning, checked my emails and made breakfast and lunch for Kassy and noticed little tippy toe feeling all over the Tree House. HUMMMMMM wonder what that is? (See i can't hear but i can feel when things are a miss). Chico and I went for our morning walk and low and behold we found some of our Shweet Potato Babies hanging around the front of the apartment complex. Chico told me they like it here so they just wanted to hang out and let other folks know how live in the Dallas area where we live now.

Chico says......

Many of you know that I have a hearing ear baby named Chico. He is not only my ears but one of my best friends. He is really Kassy's Sweet 16 present but loves his grandma (me) best! Chico brings me lucky and love and he is also one of the reasons our Cowboys are winning in December. No joke. Chico got his new cowboy colored sweater and BAM they started winning! Beat those Saints they did!

I have no idea how my shweet husband managed to get me a christmas gift as wonderful as he did but from somewhere or some how he saved up and got me the perfect christmas gift.
Many of you know I have constant pain and weakness so sewing has been my lifesaver but there are some things even sewing can't help with. Last spring break I broke down and went to the gun range with Marty and fell in love with shooting. For Christmas my wonderful hubby who puts up with so much from me, gave me a SIG SAUER® Mosquito® (gun that is). Now to some of you that is as my youngest daughter put it "hillbilly" but to me it is the best gift! Well seeing Jeremy would be the best gift but next to that my 22 is the best.

Since the Cowboys played at 7:15pm we went to the range yesterday and took my bad boy out for a ride. We took my cousin and his daughter with us and had a blast! Pun intended!

We came home from the Range and watched the Cowboys blast away at the Redskins while I worked on a new Shweet Hunting Dog. What a perfect Sunday!
Let's keep this winning streak going into Jan for both the Cowboys and of course the Longhorns too!

We want to give special thanks this holiday season for our our friends online. Thanks for your prayers and emails to mom and us. Many of you know that Mom had a small stroke that has effect her left eye and left side as well as some of her memory. She is still sewing and creating Shweet Potato Dolls N Patterns. The only problem is she has forgotten where she put 3 of her new Shweet Potato Holiday Patterns.

When she finds them we will be sure to post them in here :)

Our uncle who lived with Keelee and me when we were little is stationed in Iraq.

There are many of our men and women in Iraq and elesewhere who have no one sending them notes or care packages. We started a blog where we are posting info about our big brother Jamie (we call him Jeremy) and we just heard about one of Mom's friends on the SafeTeam has a son who needs our help too.

ANYWAYS besides those extra prayers to keep all our men and women in the service safe could you come by our blog and follow us. Please read up on Jamie and the others you can help there. We will be adding Mom's friend's info on how you can help some soldiers have Fritto Pie for Christmas in

Kandahar Afghanistan as soon as we get all the contact info.

New Snowman for the Holidays

Things are going slowly here in Shweet Potato Land. Momma has had a small stroke but sewing keeps her going. She dug out a couple Patti's Ratties Patterns and made up a couple of the Snowmen. We asked Momma if we could list on on the blog here for sale.

This is a traditional Snowman Door Hanger. He is made from white soft flannel and had a felt carrot nose and glass beads for eyes. His hat and boots are black felt and his mittens are red flet. He is holding a fun straw broom that has holly and jinglebells. The broom is not attached so you can remove it if you want after the holidays. Lots of snowflakes and button bells on this guy. Homespun scraf too!

This guy measures 13 1/2 inches tall.

Welcome to our new Home ...

Yes I know it is our old home but we have a new name for Our Website and our Products. When Always Crafty 2 started back in 2003 Mom was just dabbling in her crafts and starting to try to sell some of her handmades. Keele and I joined in right beside her in making our own creations. We were young teenagers but our Mom taught us very well and she told us to never send out ANYTHING we would not like to receive ourselves. The name Always Crafty 2 came from our Mom has always be really crafty and the 2 came from us 2 girls.

Our Mom taught herself to sew when she became disabled and sewing and creating dolls has become her lifeline. She rarely leaves our apartment anymore...dr visits and sometimes she goes to the gun range with Dad. Mom teamed up with an very talented graphic artist Carm with Shweet Potato Designs to bring Carm's graphics to life. So now that Mom can't get around much she sits in her recliner and creates Shweet Potato Dolls N Patterns. So we decided it is the perfect time to rename our website to what keeps our Mom going her Shweet Potato Dolls. Now Annie supports Autism Awarenss too and she does all she can to help make school special at Walnut Hill Elementary School from the funds raise from the purchase of their adoptions. Annie Mom is making washable soft pillows for the classroom.

This week we are celebrating the Birthday of our favorite doll Raggedy Ann. I don't think there is any girl, teen or woman out there that did NOT have at least one Raggedy Ann in their memory. The very first memory I have as a child is around a Raggedy Ann Doll. My family was poor. My dad worked but my mom was stay home mom. By the time I was 4 there were 4 of us little ones running around. My sister Elsie and I both had to have our toncils and adenoids out at the same time and this was before insurance. So my parents were paying for this out of pocket along with the living expenses for 6 folks...later we grew to 10! Anyways before the surgery we went to the toy store and my parents told us to tell them what we wanted. I think my sister asked for one of those little things that is a slate with magnet dots inside and you drew around holding the magnet pencil...I of course asked for a Raggedy Ann doll. I think my sister's cost maybe 15cents mine on the other hand was more like $5.00 which was a lot back then. I did not expect her but when I woke up there she was ready for me to love thru the pain.

Amazing how much Raggedy Ann has helped me with pain. As I grew older I lost my hearing except for noices and most of those are in my head. NO folks I do not hear voices unless it is the Annie's voice telling me how to dress her. I also developed a large number of audio immune diseases which have left me unable to work. Going on my 8th yr straight of a migrane and add to that RA and fibromyligia pain has become second nature to me. Back in 2003 I joined an online community Prim Mart and the ladies there encouraged me to sew through my pain. I decided hand sewing was to hard so I "stole" my daughters sewing machine and taught myself to sew. My first doll was a simple Annie doll called Sleepy Time Sue by Kristal at Rags-N-Tags. She was my first but certainly not my last. Many years later I now create (with permission from Carm of Shweet Potato Designs)my very own line of dolls and patterns called Shweet Potato Dolls. Knowing each day that I have my family and my sewing to look forward too helps so much with the pain. So on my good days I work on my Shweet Potato Dolls which are Carm's Raggedy Anns brought to life.

College Dollies and well wishes

OH my yesterday I just sat and had a little cry about the kids that are heading off to COLLEGE! It will be so odd around here without kassy's friends coming by. I guess I am really blessed Kassy is going to school here in Town. She will be attending Cosmetology Career Center, a Paul Mitchell Partner School in Carrollton so not only do I get to keep her close I can go up to the school for her to cut and color my hair too!
Her best friend since kinder is Krystal and because they became so tight Krystal's mom became my best friend too. Krystal is heading off to Texas A&M to become a vet. This little Gig 'em girl was her special surprise when she got accepted into A&M...she will getting some new creations monthly to keep her from getting homesick or maybe that is me missing her. Hey Krystal GIG "em

We missed another one of the girls as she headed to the airport to go to University of Texas at Austin. So guess her first care package will be on the way the way as soon as I can stop by her parents and get her address at college. Longhorn Annie is waiting to for her new Momma Marlene ..Hook "Em Horns!!!!!!!!

Now last year this little guy went to Norman (OU) to live with my neice Stacy...Well Boomer is now living in Edmond at OSU cause his mom transfered. Soon he will have a friend Pistol Pete to play with. Can't wait to see a picture of the "boys" fighting OSUvs OU week!

Now I have to get off and create a special Annie for my Cosmetology Kassy...OH and she needs a Kennel tech Annie too since she now works at Petland.

Well that is all for now. Shweet Skully Annie and pattern are due out this week. I just have to get a handle on my Lyricia ADD... this fibromyligia meds don't have any idea how they effect my sewing!

It is so hot here in Dallas but the perfect time to make some cool and Shweet Holiday goodies. Today I whipped up this 22 inch ©Shweet Potato Candy Andy Door Hanger. Working on the pattern right now and maybe a smaller version for the tree.

This doll is based on one of Carm's graphics at Shweet Potato Designs. Her graphic is so cute and it even blinks. Click on her shoppe name to see the real deal.

WOW i have a new appreciation for Pattern makers! I can sit down and draw and sew a creation but it sure takes time to sit at the computer and write it all up so folks can understand it!

I bow to you all and have set aside 2 days a week to work on converting the Shweet Dolls into patterns.

I did manage to write up a new pattern today based of course on Carm's Shweet Potato Design Graphics. The finished ornies are sold as a set of 4 and are new listings at my http://www.countryfriedprimitives.com/shoppes/cfpalwayscrafty2/

The e-pattern is in my Always Crafty 2 shoppe as well as a couple Pattern shoppes, Epattern Shoppes and The Pattern Cupboard. If you sell e-patterns and patterns you really need to check out both pattern shoppes!

Well off to work on a couple Autism Bunnies and some Christmas in July Shweet creations BUT first a Shweet Chef in Autism garb for Autism Speaks.

Whether you have direct contact with autism, Asperger's Syndrome or any of the other many differences associated with autism Each and every one of us IS effected by Autism. So many of our beautiful children and adults are affected and it is time that each one of us does what we can to work towards awareness, acceptance of our Autism Angels and research for cures. In my family we have a difference DYSLEXIA. Both Autism and Dyslexia are disabilites that need more research and awareness!
I give thanks each day to Scottish Rite Hospital Luke Waits School for teaching my girls to read in the way they can and be successful. I also give thanks to special teachers and aids like my Best Friend Ceclia who work hand in hand with our Austic Angels each and every day.

Yes I have fallen in love with the Gothic style and I just finished writing up ©Shweet Gothic Raggedy pattern and she is in my Always Crafty 2 store in both paper and PDF form. She is also at The Pattern Cupboard under Gothic and also Raggedies. I will be adding the e-pattern to etsy and the e-pattern shoppes later tonight. While this pattern is written up in the Gothic Style she could always be primmed up or created in a country style by staining and changing the fabrics of her clothing.

Pay IT Forward Wednesday

Wow it's Wednesday already! Time to Pay it Forward and bring a smile to your heart. Today we are dropping off notes to the autism teachers at the elementary school the girls attended MANY years ago. These 3 special teachers do so much and give 150% of themselves every day to these special angels. So today we are dropping off autism key chains with a little note to thank them.

What can you do today? Turn around to the person behind you at the bank grocery store or office and tell them to have a NICE DAY. Smile really big when you say it and of course mean it!

©Love Bug was created from a brown and pink cotton fabric with soft mauve/pink fleece brushed cotton for accents. Doe suede was used to create her inter face and arms, Her face is hand painted in the Shweet Potato style. Her hair is made from mauve cotton yarn that curles just perfectly. ©Love Bug has wings and heart antennas. She has wings created from brown and pink cotton fabric with a vintage button on her back neck. She is made to hang and will sit if propped.
